Making your beauty treatment products from home means you’ll know exactly what ingredients you’re using and have complete control over what your putting on your hair, nails and skin. Here’s a list of tried-and-tested DIY recipes to pamper yourself with:

 

Exfoliating Body Scrub

To create a rich and moisturizing body scrub, combine ¾ cup coconut oil, ½ cup brown sugar, and ½ cup used coffee grounds. You can decrease and increase the amount of sugar for a more intense or gentler scrub. Used coffee grounds are an excellent cellulite-busting additive and the coconut oil has incredible moisturising properties that will leave your skin feeling soft and supple.

Easy Lip Exfoliator

A change of seasons or dehydration can cause dry, chapped lips. If you’re well-hydrated and still suffer from rough lips, we recommend making super moisturising lip scrub and balm. Moisten 1 tablespoon of brown sugar with 1 teaspoon of Argan oil and then add 1 drop of your favourite essential oil. Peppermint is often a top choice because of its fresh, minty tingle. Gently massage the balm onto your lips and then rinse off. Repeat this twice a day and you’re lips will be repaired in no time.

 

Luxurious Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Keeping healthy hair can be a challenge. If your locks are limp, brittle, frizzy or dry, we recommend coconut oil for its intense moisture. Simply apply a ¼ cup of coconut oil from your scalp to the tips of your hair, leave it for an hour and then wash your hair as normal and let it dry naturally. If you’re hair needs extra nourishment then add an avocado and one egg yolk to your coconut oil prior to application.

Avocado Face Moisturiser

Mash a fully ripe avocado and apply it like you would an ordinary face mask. Alternatively, if you’re not an avo fan and don’t enjoy the idea of inhaling it’s scent, you can just rub the inside of the peel on your face instead. Wait 10-20 minutes then gently wash your face with warm water and experience intense avocado moisture!

 

Natural Minty Toothpaste

How many people actually know what their toothpaste is made of? And yet, they use it everyday. Do away with fluoride-filled brands and make your own. Stir 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda, 2 small packets of stevia powder and 15-20 drops of peppermint essential oil into ½ a cup of melted coconut oil. Then, pour the mixture into a mason jar and let it cool and harden. It’s easy-peasy!
